How to use the time zone converter

How this time zone converter handles daylight saving time
This world time zone converter uses IANA zones, from the database that operating systems and browsers use. They're named by region and city, such as America/New_York, instead of abbreviations like EST. A city name is more reliable, because one zone can switch between two abbreviations and two offsets during the year.
The conversion uses your browser's built-in time zone data (the JavaScript Intl API), which stores each zone's daylight saving rules and past changes. It applies the offset in force on the date you enter, not today's. Converting 9:00 AM in New York gives 2:00 PM in London on 21 October 2026, but 1:00 PM on 28 October. Europe ends summer time on the last Sunday of October (25 October 2026), while the US waits until the first Sunday of November (1 November 2026).
The small UTC offset boxes show each zone's offset on the date you picked, so they always match the converted time and the Time difference, even across a clock change. Only the small "Now" clocks show the current time.
EST to IST and other common conversions
India uses one time zone, IST (UTC+5:30), and doesn't change its clocks. New York switches between EST (UTC-5) and EDT (UTC-4), so the gap to India changes during the year.

For India, choose Asia/Kolkata. Some browsers still use older names such as Asia/Calcutta or Europe/Kiev internally; the converter lists the current names (Asia/Kolkata, Europe/Kyiv) instead. For US Eastern time choose America/New_York, and for Pacific time choose America/Los_Angeles.
Pacific time zone converter
US Pacific time is UTC-8 in winter (PST) and UTC-7 in summer (PDT). In 2026, PDT runs from 8 March to 1 November, the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November. Pick America/Los_Angeles as the source or target; it also covers Seattle, San Francisco and Las Vegas.
Pacific time is 3 hours behind New York all year, because both switch on the same days. The gap to Europe or Asia shifts by an hour around the clock changes, so always convert using the actual meeting date.
