Free image converter and editing tools

Convert, compress, resize and touch up photos without installing an app. Every image tool runs in your browser, and most take up to 500 files in one batch.

Which image format should you use?

Pick the format by what's in the picture and where it's going:

  • JPG suits photos. It's accepted almost everywhere, but it has no transparency and loses a little detail each time it's saved.
  • PNG suits screenshots, text and graphics with sharp edges, and it keeps transparent backgrounds. Photos saved as PNG are much bigger than JPGs.
  • WebP is usually smaller than both for the same visible quality, which makes pages load faster. Some older apps and upload forms still reject it, so convert WebP to PNG or JPG when that happens.
  • SVG stores shapes instead of pixels, so logos and icons stay sharp at any size. PNG to SVG traces a flat image into vector paths.
  • HEIC is the default camera format on iPhones. Many Windows PCs and websites can't open it, which is why HEIC to JPG is the most used converter here.

How to get an image under a size limit

Job portals, exam forms and visa sites often cap photo uploads at 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. The compress-to-size tools, such as Compress Image to 100KB, search for the highest JPG quality that fits under the target. They only shrink the dimensions if lowering the quality isn't enough, and each result shows its final size, dimensions and quality.

If the form also asks for exact pixel dimensions, such as 600 x 600, run the photo through Resize Image first, then compress it. For smaller files with no fixed target, such as photos for email or a website, Compress JPG gives you a quality slider (80% by default) and shows the percentage saved on every photo.

Online image editor tools for quick fixes

These cover the small edits people otherwise open a full photo editor for. Brighten Photo lifts dark pictures with Brightness, Shadows and Exposure sliders and exports at the original resolution. Crop Image has presets for social media, print and banner sizes, plus circle and other shape crops.

Before you post a photo publicly, check it in the photo metadata viewer. Phone photos often carry GPS coordinates in their EXIF data, and the tool saves a clean copy without them. To mark your work, Add Watermark stamps text or a logo on up to 500 photos at once.

Frequently asked questions

Is this image converter free?

Yes. All the image tools are free, need no account and don't add a watermark to your pictures.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Every image tool decodes, edits and saves your pictures inside your browser, so the files never leave your device.

How many images can I convert at once?

Most format converters, and the JPG, PNG and WebP compressors, take up to 500 files or 2 GB per batch. The compress-to-size tools, such as Compress Image to 100KB, handle 50 images at a time.

Does converting JPG to PNG improve image quality?

No. PNG keeps exactly what's in the JPG, but it can't bring back detail that JPG compression already removed. The PNG file will also be larger.

How do I convert HEIC to JPG on Windows without an app?

Open the HEIC to JPG converter in any browser, drop in your .heic photos and select Convert all. You don't need the HEIF extensions from the Microsoft Store.

How do I remove location data from a photo?

Add the photo to the photo metadata viewer and select Remove metadata. It saves a new copy without EXIF, GPS or camera details.
