To roll dice online, set Number of dice and Sides per die (2d6 is the default), then select Roll dice or press Space. The dice tumble for about a second and land on random values. You'll see each die, the total, and a running average under the dice.
How to use the dice roller
- Choose your dice. Type a count from 1 to 12 in Number of dice and a value from 2 to 100 in Sides per die, or pick a quick preset such as 1d20 or 4d6.
- Roll. Select Roll dice or press the Space bar.
- Read the result. Each die shows its value and the total appears below the dice. Turn on Result popup after each roll if you want a summary window with every die listed.
- Keep a record. Every roll goes into Roll history with its formula, values and total. Select Copy to paste the list into a chat or notes app.
DnD dice roller: using it for 5e
Every die in a standard D&D set works here: set Sides per die to 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 20, or 100 for percentile rolls. One roll uses one die type, and there's no modifier box, so add bonuses yourself and roll mixed pools (1d8 plus 1d6) as two separate rolls.
- Attack rolls and checks: roll 1d20 and add your modifier.
- Advantage and disadvantage: the 5e rules say to roll a second d20 and use the higher (advantage) or lower (disadvantage) result. Use the 2d20 preset and read both dice on the table.
- Ability scores: the 5e Basic Rules method is to roll four d6 and total the highest three, six times. Use the 4d6 preset, drop the lowest die by hand and repeat.
- Damage: a greatsword's 2d6 is the default setting. For 8d6 fireball damage, enter 8 dice with 6 sides.
Average roll for each die
The average of one fair die is (sides + 1) / 2. Multiply by the number of dice for the expected total, which is useful for quick damage estimates.

When you roll 2 dice, totals in the middle are far more common. With 2d6 there are 36 combinations, and 6 of them make 7, so 7 comes up 1 time in 6. A 2 or a 12 has only one combination each, about 2.8%. With advantage, a d20 averages about 13.8 instead of 10.5.
Are the rolls fair?
Yes. Each die picks a whole number from 1 to the number of sides with your browser's crypto.getRandomValues(), using rejection sampling so no face is even slightly more likely than another. No roll depends on the last, and there are no buttons that force a result, so every roll in your stats and history is a real one. Faces on dice up to 6 sides show pips, and larger dice show the number.
Need a single yes or no instead? Flip a coin. For a number outside dice ranges, use the random number generator.

Can I use it as a d20 dice roller?

Can I add a modifier like +5?
Not in the roller itself. Roll the dice, then add your modifier to the total. There's also no drop-lowest option, so for 4d6 ability scores you remove the lowest die yourself.
How many dice can I roll at once?
Up to 12 dice per roll, each with 2 to 100 sides. All dice in one roll share the same number of sides.
Can I roll dice automatically?
Yes. Select Start auto roll. The dice roll again after each landing, with the pause set by the Pause between auto rolls slider, from 0.5 to 5 seconds. Select Stop auto roll to end it.
Is my roll history saved?
Yes. Your settings, totals and last 80 rolls are kept in this browser's local storage until you select Reset session or Clear. Nothing is uploaded.
