Configurable dice pools and roll statistics

Roll one or more virtual dice with a defined side count and keep probability separate from animation

A standard die model chooses each integer from 1 through its number of sides with equal probability. Set number of dice, sides, speed, preset, manual or automatic mode, then interpret totals, minimums, maximums, and history according to the exact dice pool rather than expecting a lucky animation to influence the result.

Dice pool

Number of dice and sides define both the possible range and the shape of totals

One d20 produces values from 1 to 20 with equal individual probability. Two d6 produce totals from 2 to 12, but middle totals have more combinations and are more likely than extremes. A displayed sum should be read together with the individual dice.

Session controls

Auto roll and speed change pacing, not odds

Presets fill common dice configurations and should be checked before rolling. Test Max and Test Min deliberately force boundary values for interface checks. Reset clears the current history, while Copy Stats preserves a text summary outside the page.

Appropriate use

A game aid does not satisfy casino, security, scientific, or regulated randomness requirements

Use this roller for tabletop games, classrooms, prototypes, and casual choices when participants agree. Formal contests and money-related outcomes need disclosed rules and independently acceptable randomness. Device or browser problems can also interrupt an automatic session.

Practical review

Dice session check

State the dice notation and distinguish genuine rolls from forced test outcomes.

  • Confirm dice count, sides per die, preset, and intended total range.
  • Read individual dice and sum; do not assume totals are uniformly distributed.
  • Exclude Test Max Roll and Test Min Roll from random statistics.
  • Copy needed session history before reset or closing the page.
  • Use an approved auditable system for money, prizes, or formal research.
Dice rolling questions

Dice notation, total probability, multiple dice, auto rolls, test values, and fairness

What does 2d6 mean?

It means rolling two six-sided dice. The individual results range from 1 to 6 and the total ranges from 2 to 12.

Are all totals equally likely with multiple dice?

No. More combinations produce middle totals than extreme totals. With 2d6, seven has more combinations than two or twelve.

Can I roll a custom-sided die?

Use the sides control for the supported range and confirm that the game actually defines that die size.

Does a faster animation change the roll?

No. Speed changes presentation and pacing, not the intended selection probability.

What are Test Max Roll and Test Min Roll for?

They force boundary outcomes to test the interface. They are not random and should be excluded from actual game statistics.

Can this roller replace casino-certified dice?

No. High-stakes or regulated play needs equipment or software certified under the relevant rules.
