Two joke sources: library or AI
The built-in library has 268 short, original English jokes written for this page, sorted into 8 categories: Dad Joke, Programming, Office, School, Everyday, Food, Travel and Animals. Most are classic setup-and-punchline puns, and all of them are clean enough for a classroom. Each pick uses your browser's crypto.getRandomValues(), and the same joke never comes up twice in a row.
The AI writer writes a new joke on each click. It follows your category and Tone (Funny, Witty, Gentle roast, Clean, Dad joke or Sarcastic), and you can steer it with a topic like office, exams or cricket. It's told about your recent jokes so it avoids repeating them. AI requests are limited to about a dozen per minute. With Use the library if AI fails on, a failed request shows a library joke instead.
